Federal regulators have announced the recall of nearly 13,000 children's tower stools across three different brands due to significant safety concerns. According to notices from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), dozens of incidents involving these stools have been reported, resulting in 21 injuries. The primary hazards identified include the potential for the stools to collapse or tip over while in use. Additionally, the design of the stools presents a risk of entrapment, as a child's torso can fit through the openings on the sides, posing a danger of serious injury and even death.
The recall encompasses approximately 12,830 units in total. The affected products are Toetol Tower Stools, Wiifo Children’s Tower Stools, and Amzcmj DGD Children’s Tower Stools. Specifically, the recall includes about 3,000 Toetol Tower Stools, a substantial 9,700 Wiifo Children’s Tower Stools, and 130 Amzcmj DGD Children’s Tower Stools.
For the Toetol Tower Stools, the CPSC reports that there have been 18 incidents where the stools collapsed. These collapses led to 11 reported injuries, which included contusions, cuts, and scrapes. These wooden kitchen tower step stools were available in white, gray, and dark wood finishes. They measure approximately 20 inches in depth, 15 inches in width, and stand about 36 inches tall. The model number DETD0001 is printed on a label located on the side of the stool. Consumers purchased these stools online via Amazon between October 2024 and March 2026 for approximately $130 each.
The Wiifo Children’s Tower Stools have been associated with 22 separate incidents of collapse. These events resulted in six injuries, primarily contusions and scrapes. These stools were offered in white, natural, and light wood finishes. Their dimensions are roughly 18 inches deep, 18 inches wide, and 34 inches tall. Model number LT005 is printed on a label on the underside of the platform. These stools were sold on Amazon.com, with purchase dates ranging from June 2022 to March 2026. The retail price for these stools was approximately $60.
The Amzcmj DGD Children’s Tower Stools have been linked to safety concerns, with seven reported incidents involving children falling from the stool or becoming entrapped. These incidents led to four injuries, including contusions, splinters, and scrapes. These stools are notable for their versatility, as they can be folded and converted into a table and chair configuration. They also feature a blackboard. The stools measure approximately 15 inches deep, 22 inches wide, and 34 inches tall. The brand name is typically found on the item's order receipt. These stools were sold online on Amazon between February 2025 and March 2026, with prices ranging from $85 to $100.
All three types of recalled tower stools were manufactured in China. The CPSC has issued notices detailing the specific risks associated with each product. The primary hazards identified include the potential for the stools to collapse or tip over during use, leading to falls. Furthermore, the design of the stools presents an entrapment risk if a child's body fits through the side openings, which could result in serious injury or even death.
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected Toetol Tower Stools, Wiifo Children’s Tower Stools, or Amzcmj DGD Children’s Tower Stools are strongly advised by the commission to cease using these products immediately. The CPSC recommends that customers contact the respective companies directly to arrange for a full refund. This action is crucial to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of young children who use these items for standing and reaching.
