Pop superstar Dua Lipa has initiated a lawsuit against electronics giant Samsung, seeking $15 million in damages. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Samsung used a photograph of Lipa's face on its television packaging without her consent.

According to the legal filing, Samsung prominently featured the image on various television models sold throughout the United States. Lipa's legal team contends that the packaging was intentionally designed to leverage her established success and public recognition to boost sales of Samsung products.

The lawsuit outlines several claims, including copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and the misappropriation of Lipa's likeness and image. The photograph in question was reportedly taken during Lipa's performance at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024, and the singer asserts ownership of the copyright for this image.

Lipa's awareness of her image appearing on Samsung's TV boxes reportedly began in June 2025. The issue gained further traction as fans started posting about it on social media platforms, with some referring to the product as the "Dua Lipa TV Box."

Social media commentary cited in the lawsuit highlights consumer interest directly linked to Lipa's presence on the packaging. One user expressed intent to purchase the television specifically because of the singer's image, while another suggested that featuring Lipa's picture would aid in product sales.

Lipa's representatives claim that Samsung allegedly disregarded repeated requests to stop the infringing use of her rights. The singer is known for her extensive commercial partnerships with major brands such as Puma, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent. She has also engaged in collaborations with companies like Apple, Porsche, and Chanel, and recently became a global ambassador for Nespresso.

Her latest musical endeavor, the album "Radical Optimism," was released in 2024, further cementing her prominent position in the entertainment industry. The lawsuit aims to hold Samsung accountable for the alleged unauthorized commercial exploitation of her image and associated intellectual property rights.
