Jonathan Andic, the 43-year-old son of the late Mango founder Isak Andic, was arrested by Catalan police on Tuesday. His detention is part of a renewed investigation into the death of the fashion tycoon, who passed away in December 2024 after falling from a ravine in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. The incident, initially classified as an accident, was later reopened by investigators.

Isak Andic, 71, was reportedly walking with his son when the fatal fall occurred. Media reports have offered conflicting accounts regarding whether the father and son were alone at the time of the incident or if other family members were present. Jonathan Andic has previously asserted his innocence and denied any responsibility for his father's death.

A spokesperson for the family stated that Jonathan was cooperating with authorities and expressed confidence in his eventual exoneration. Jonathan Andic joined the fashion company Mango in 2005 and subsequently took charge of the Mango Man line. Following his father's passing, he assumed the role of vice-chairman of the company's board.

Investigators in Catalonia had initially concluded the case in early 2025, citing a lack of evidence of criminal wrongdoing. However, the case was reopened later that year. According to reports from La Vanguardia newspaper, authorities cited inconsistencies in Jonathan's testimony as grounds for reopening the investigation.

Jonathan Andic was reportedly taken from his residence shortly after 11:00 local time (09:00 GMT) on Tuesday for further questioning by police. He was expected to appear before a judge later in the day to provide testimony.

Isak Andic, who was born in Turkey, co-founded Mango with his brother Nahman in Barcelona in 1984. The fashion chain has since grown significantly, now operating approximately 3,000 stores across 120 countries. At the time of his death, Forbes estimated Isak Andic's net worth at $4.5 billion.

Mango CEO Toni Ruiz commented on Isak Andic's death, stating it would "leave a huge void." He added that the company's employees represent Isak's legacy and the testament to his accomplishments, pledging to ensure Mango continues to be the project Isak envisioned and would be proud of.
